Merry Merry Christmas!!!

So for our first official Christmas together as husband and wife I decided to make Corey and I matching Christmas socks. Corey grew up having a stocking that his mother had made for him. Due to current circumstances, of all of their stuff being in storage, they can't find those stockings. I have never really had my own Christmas sock, that I can remember. My mom always just use the same socks and we got whatever we got. When Santa brought the toys our names would be pined to them on a Christmas tag. So, I am very excited to finally have my own Christmas stocking and they even turned out cute.

Are Mormons Really Christians?

I have found it an interesting observation of how there are more people who are christian, but are better christians than LDS people. I am astounded at how un-christian most members of the LDS faith are. They are well known to be judgmental, unaccepting, and socially inept to being open minded. It seems as if they are so stuck on judging on the moral aspect of others that they forget about the ethical side of things. It seem as though ethics have gotten thrown out the windows! In the LDS faith they teach that we should live our life more like our savior, Jesus Christ. In so doing we should treat others as we would like to be treated. One shall not judge another, thankfully judgement is the responsability of our savior, he is the one who knows the thoughts of our hearts. Just because there is one of the mormon faith who is not quite living up to the standards that you hold up to them doesn't give you the right to disown, or try to correct their ways. As children of God we are given agency to choose. Throughout life choices are made, good, bad, somewhere in between...... They all have to be made. Through choice, lessons are learned and our adventure of life is played out. Most choices are made blindly, by faith. We do not know before hand the things God has planned for us. Everything in our life occurs for a reason and a purpose. The reason or purpose may not be immediatly clear but will be revealled to you through time and the journey. I am saddened when I watch someone of my "christian" faith pass a uneducated judgment on someone without a seconds hessitation. I do not believe that our father in heaven wants us to judge people but rather situations and things. He wants us to seek happiness and find joy. This is the purpose of our lives here on earth. We should all encourage those around us to find happiness no matter what it is. Even if it has nothing to do with religion. As far as happiness goes with religion........ there are so many out there that can make one happy. I have found my preference and I encourage others to find theirs. As well I like to share my happiness with others, but I will not shove my views down another's throat. That is a whole other post.

BOZEMAN!!!!

We are here at the competition and having a blast! I am working on homework upstairs here at the gym and thought that I would give you a little post while I had some time.

Craig, Ryan, & Chema (this is a boy's name he's a friend of Nate's) showed up last night around 5 o'clock and met up with Corey at Sticks(FYI:this is a climbing gym in Rexburg called Sticks and Stones. Corey lives here when he's not at school or at home). Jared and Jessica showed up around 3pm, I think, and went to Sticks with Corey also. We all went to dinner at BIG Jud's, a local eatery, and enjoyed the 1 lb of beef burger affectionately called the BIG JUD. Then we went home and watched a climbing video, which is the usual for a competition weekend, and they stayed up til midnight talking about climbing, also typical for a climbing weekend.

We left Rexburg around 8:30 and headed off to Bozeman, Montana; a climbing down with a college problem (just kidding). We arrived sometime after my nap and before the competition so that everyone could register and headed to The CO-OP, a funky little/LARGE grocery store that has organic everything and some really cool stuff. People grabbed food and we headed back to the comp right before it started at 1pm.

They apparently climb for 4 hours and get ranked according to their top 5 climbs and their point values(I may need to retract my statement if I find out other wise). They stand "in line" by putting their place cards in a pile and whoever is one top goes first. The gym is full of tons of climbers and techno music, it's actually really cool. Corey is right when he says that the energy here is amazing because it really is. Imagine being on that hyper high you get every once in a while; usually from staying up too late with friends, where you are silly and just so full of energy you don't know what to do with yourself. Now imagine adding techno music to it and having it last for four HOURS!!! If you can imagine that then you can get close to the feeling of the Bozeman competition.

After everyone climbed 'til they were too tired to move. They then started the Dyno competition and the slack line competition while we waited for them to tally the scores. Craig made the top five and went on to finals. Finals are done by isolation, which means that all of the participants are not allowed in the room where the routes are. They come in as a group and have 3 minutes to look at the route, touch the starting holds and decide how to attempt it. It was actually really funny because all of the guys that were in the finals were friends and they were all giving each other tips, when in the real world they wouldn't. Craig made it up the first route but only part way up the second. His friend, Mike McClure, topped out both routes and won the open category over all.

After the competition was over we headed to Arby's for dinner and then started our 4 hour drive home. It was wet and icy and we didn't get home until 2 o'clock in the morning. Yay for really long road trips. And we get to do it all again next year.

Hunting 08

This is a slide of our first hunting trip together. Hunting has been a King family tradition for a very long time. My father has been hunting the area we go to for over 35 some odd years now. I have so many very fond memories in that country. Jentri was a bit nervous about going to begin with, but who could blame her? Honestly, I would be too if I were in her shoes. We left Rexburg area and arrived in camp at about 9:30ish friday night and left sunday night. It was a depressingly short stay. The hunt openned on saturday and we got into the elk that morning. Sadly we weren't able to make contact, but went out again on sunday. Jentri stayed in camp with the ladies on saturday, but came on the hunt on sunday. I do believe she had a good time. The weather was beautiful and warm all weekend. We are still trying to get things unpacked and settled from the trip. This trip is such a huge thing to me. The hunting area is truely where my heart lies.

Hardcore Marcus!!

These picts were taken a while ago when Marcus graced us with his presence. This is the day Craig put this, his project down! Thanks all to Marcus pointing out a new, tinny, hold. Craig shot these and I think they turned out very well. Good job! Thank you friends for creating such a memorable weekend for Jentri and I. We look forward with giddiness to the next adventure together.

Update

As you can tell, not much i going on out here in Rexburg. Jentri and I are working our butts off to keep our finances in order and keep up with our classes. Every once in a while I squeeze in a session at Sticks. Jentri comes and hangs out at the sessions every once in a while. Hopefully Jentri gets her boot off tommorrow! I have joined up with a school organized photographic society. So, there may be pictures posted randomly from now on.

It has finally gotten cold! This last weekend was full of snow! Yay for winter!!! I'm still workin away at the Outdoor Resource Center, Jentri just changed her job. I can't really explain it to ya, but she is leading some advertising groups for the college I think. All I know is that this experience will be great on a resume'. So, we have met a new climber named Kristin. She is an awesome young lady, and a great climber to boot! If only we could get her over her shyness!

Those two pictures were taken out near the climb named Warpath. Over conference weekend Craig, Kristin, and I headed out to flash the route. It ended up raining all day, but that was ok being as warpath is in this HUGE cave. Stupid me didn't get a shot of all of us sending the route, but I did get these really cool other shots. Anyways, more to come later.

Pocatello Pump!!!

So last weekend Corey and I headed down to Pocatello to have our annual Climbing friendly Reunion also known as the Pocatello Pump. We climbed on Saturday top-roping the routes that we would lead climb on Sunday. We went to Lava Hot Springs (a new yearly tradition) and then climbed again on Sunday. I lead a whole 2 climbs that day, one being my first 5.10.

After the climbing was over I decided that it would be a really great idea to break my foot on the way back to the trail so I rolled it as soon as we got to the trail head. There was lots of debate as to whether it was broken or just sprained it so I hobbled it for two more days and when I finally got to the doctors office they x-rayed it and found three breaks in one bone so now I have fabulous black foot wear that I get to have for 4-6 weeks.

Corey and I would like to give a shout out to Craig and Tolman for winning their division in the competition and Marcus, I am so very glad that you decided to come. It is always good to have you around and it is great to climb with you and get to know you better..

Redneck moving?

So, this is about 2 weeks late.  Jentri and I packed up 2 pick-up trucks, a trailor, my subaru, and her car to move to Rexburg for school!  All I can say is that we have got a ton of stuff!  Over all the packing and transfer went quite smoothly.  Now we are moved into our, larger than last, one bedroom appartment.  With full access to the 2 rooms upstairs, which is now our storage.  Now that we have got all of our crap in one place we can go through it all and try to slim down.  Next time 2 trucks are not the option.

Yay for Yellowstone!!!

So we headed out to Yellowstone a few weekends ago two reasons. One, I've never been and Corey really wanted to take me there and two, it was our six month anniversary and we wanted to get away before we moved and went back to school and wouldn't be able to go on very many grand adventures for a while. So off we went.

We left on Thursday and stopped by Big Spring. It is a place where a river just starts out of the ground, it was very cool. The water was very clear and underneath the bridge are these really big fish (they weren't all that big when we were there but that's because a local said that otters were eating them further down stream). There was even a little water wheel house that supplies the power to the visitor center.

We camped at Madison Camp ground for the night, after setting up the tent, in the dark, cooking dinner, in the dark, and brushing our teeth, in the dark (just kidding you can't do that they have bears and you get in trouble for it but they do have bathrooms with running cold water and flushing toilets (YAY for camping with flushing toilets! Can you really call that camping?)

The next morning was Friday and we headed off to cover the lower loop. Here is our list of stops for day 1:

As you can see our day was absolutely PACKED!!! After Norris we headed back to camp to make dinner, again in the dark I've got to learn to plan better. Corey made a fire, there was some guy singing Flogging Molly songs (he was actually really good) and then we went to bed.

The best part of Day 2 was the rapids we played in at the Firehole River. This was at the very end of the day and it was fun because we got to hike around/swim across the current to get up to the top of the rapids and then ride the current back down. We even found some "deep" water soloing while we were fighting the currents to get back to the top. It was very fun and very tiring. If you look carefully at the picture you can see someone about to jump in near the top of the rapids and other people working there way there.

Quick Update

Corey and I are headed to Yellowstone this weekend and then next weekend we're moving to Rexburg in case you missed the count down timer. We had to make a deal that I would not freak out durring this whole moving process and he said that if I did he would just start throwing things in boxes. I told him that if he did start throwing things in boxes I would only freak out more. So I have to not freak out and he has to not throw stuff in boxes. We'll see if we live through all of this. I'm sure that we will but I've said it before and I'll say it again, I really don't like moving but I really am excited to see my Rexburg friends again.

Back to School or is it On the Road Again?

As you can see by the count down timer Corey and I don't have much time left before we say "see you later" to Twin Falls and head over to Rexburg as life changes yet again.

Find an Apartment? CHECK

Looks like we have the hard stuff taken care of for our Back to School checklist. Now the only things left to do are pack up and move. We will be hitting the road on August 30th so if anyone wants to come and keep me company while I pack, feel free, (I really just need someone to talk to me while I do it, I get lonely).

CITY!!!!

We, like everyone else, have been up to the usual, work, play, sleep, repeat. Due to weather we haven't gotten to go to the City of Rocks as much as Corey would like but we get out as much as we can. Here's how our last week of climbing has gone....

Monday last week we went down to Derkies and worked on Black thing, a pumpy, very over hung 11c. Corey lead and I followed making it all the way to the top taking breaks at each bolt because I am clearly not strong enough to make it the whole way in one shot just yet. The movement is fun and I can see why it is a popular route down there.

Then on thursday we invited my friend Laura and Tim to come with us for a very casual evening of climbing. They went and we all had a great time, or at least I did, I love seeing and spending time with friends. Laura I love you and hope you two had fun and that we'll get to do something again soon.

Friday Jeff, Pauline, and David came down from Nampa to tour CSI and then we all headed out to escape to the City of Rocks for the weekend. When we got there at 8 o'clock the first thing that we did was try and make it to the top of Little Time before dark, needless to say we forgot the head lamps (we had 1 tikka and 1 firefly) and only made it to the second pitch before the sun was gone and we all got to repel in the dark with the firefly as the landing light.

Sometime early Saturday morning Craig finally made it to us in one piece and slept in the back of his car. That morning we got up, snacked breakfast and headed out to Elephant rock to try Rye Crisp (Wheat Thin was busy).

From there we headed out to the back side of Window Rock, because we hadn't been there yet, and found some beautiful crack lines that were not to be passed up. This is one that we found that wasn't it the book. The start was a pain because there isn't much to hold on to, but it was really fun and a variety of techniques had to be used to get it.

The view from the top was amazing!!! It is always the best reward. In this picture you can see most of the upper City with Parking Lot rock in the near background, Bath in mid-background, and the Twin Sisters in the far distance.

Corey and my adopted husband, Craig even got to climb together this weekend. Most of the time one is belaying while the other is climbing but there were enough of us this trip that they finally got to see each other while on the rock. So one lead one route while one lead another side by side. Craig even climbed over to Corey's route to steal a piece of trad off of his harness, go figure.

The weekend was absolutely perfect. We even got a night climb in on Saturday night before we went to bed. It was very cool.

Going Green?

With gas prices soaring I have been considering "going green". It has become very tempting to start riding my horses to run all my errands in town. I think the local police would love it!! I have also thought of starting my own lawn mowing and fertilizing business. My only fall back is that I have no where in town to keep my horses. I still need to research any laws restricting me to turn to this alternative means of transportation. I think this is one way of "going green" that I can actually afford.

Enjoying the week of summer

Here in Twin Falls we had a small teaser of wonderful weather! It was wonderful and warm as it should be this time of year. The warmth only lasted for a week or two and is now back to what feels like March. Every year the weather gets stranger and stranger. I guess it is one of the signs of what is to come. Strange to think of it that way. Well, here are a couple of photos of us enjoying the small spell of warmth. We are bouldering a lot down at derkies. Roping up has seemed a hassle so we just throw out the pads and chill.

Jentri's first time on this project was in the night with a headlamp! She put it down without any trouble. The next day she decided to second it so she could see it. I took the photo opportunity.

After all of her hard work it was time for a nap in the hot sun. I tease her for being a lizard!

Craig came into town for the weekend and him, Tolman, and I worked on this new derkies project. As far as we know it has yet to see an accent.

And of course misty came too!

There are no photos of me because I'm the only one who picks up the camera. I also enjoy taking photos a lot. Hopefully our next post will show a bit of me?

The BIG Swing!!!

So Last weekend Craig came down from Boise and he and Corey decided they wanted to take on the small task of making a BIG swing.

This is a far away view. If you have the eyes of an eagle you might be able to actually see the rope that is hanging from the top where the RED pad is on top of the rocks to the little bitty person (Craig) that is in the cave.


This is the view from inside of the cave looking out. If you look carefully you can see the rope attached to the wall off to the right. They rigged it up so that it wouldn't swing out while they weren't on it.



This is a video of Corey playing on his new swing. I apologize for the fact that it's side ways. I haven't quite taught Corey and Craig that when you use a camera to take video you can't tip it on it's side the long way to try and fit it all in because the film turns out like this. So what have we learned students??? When video taping adventures hold the camera horizontal cause I can't turn the TV on its side. What else did we learn? That really BIG Swings are a WHOLE LOT OF FUN!!!!!!!!!!

Getting to know us

How long have you been together? 10 months

Who eats more? Corey definitely eats more, especially sugar!

Who said I love you first? Corey did. He gave me a Hersey kiss when we went to city last summer with a ribbon that said I love you on it, and I still have it.

Who is taller? In chacos Corey's taller I fit right under his shoulders when we hug.

Who does laundry? Jentri, Corey's too scared he'll mess it up. He really does know how to do it I think he's just afraid that he'll fold it wrong.

Who does dishes? 50/50 split

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? If you're looking at it from the foot of the bed currently Corey does but that's just because it's closest to the door and Jentri feels safer that way. It also makes it easier for him to catch most of the glass when rocks come through the bedroom window.

Who pays the bills? Jentri, Corey just spends the money and paying all our bills is definitely a juggling act so we leave it up to Jentri, she's good at it.

Who mows the lawn? What lawn? We haven't owned grass in years.

Who cooks dinner? Corey, he has a very exotic style but at least he does it because I don't like to.

Who drives when you are together? 9 times out of 10 it's Corey in Ellie Mae, my car usually gets left home but occasionally he lets me drive.

Who is more stubborn? It depends on what it is.

Who sings better? Duh, do you really have to ask.

Who is smarter? We haven't figured that one out yet. In somethings Corey's smarter and in other things Jentri's smarter.

Who is the first to admit they are wrong? It depends on who's wrong.

Who's parent's do you see the most? Umm, we'll get back to you on that one. We can't decide right now, we think it's the same.

Who kissed who first? Jentri, Corey tried to kiss me once and I shot him down, after that he said I would have to kiss him first.

Who proposed? Corey did in the Salt Lake Temple sealing room on September 19th, 2007.

Who is more sensitive? Jentri, Corey just doesn't show it.

Who has more friends? Corey, and he somehow keeps tabs on all of them. I'm so jealous

Who has more siblings? Jentri duh! Come on over I'll introduce you to my entourage.

Who wears the pants? Jentri, Corey wears shorts.

Who asked who out first? Corey, both times.

How long have you been married? Two months, 11 days, 9 hours, 30 minutes and counting

Whose the weird one? Most days I think it's Corey but some days I give him a run for his money and we're proud to be weird.

All in all the honeymoon was relaxing and wonderful! These days we miss that week. With life being so hectic and crazy we never get to spend time together just enjoying each other. One thing we have learned is to enjoy the small things for they are the big things.

WE DID IT!!!!!

It's official...We really are married now and it couldn't be better. The honeymoon was awesome. (Thank you Craig and Tolman for letting us borrow your snow shoes, they came in very handy) We went up to Corey's uncle's cabin in the Uintah Mountains and we spent the week snowshoeing in the dark with head lamps, snowshoeing in the day light (down hill is a lot easier than up hill), buying fireworks, and snow mobiling. I learned how to make a fire in a wood burning stove and successfully did so on our second to last day. The reception here in Twin was beautiful, sorry for those of you how couldn't make it, we still love you, I'll try and post pictures as soon. We have been staying at Corey's parent's house for the week while we finish getting our little one bedroom apartment put together. We're hoping to move in this weekend!!! Yay for our own place. I love being married and highly recommend it but if you are going to do it I strongly suggest you marry your best friend.

Responsibility?

Ok, what exactly is responsibility? Is having money being responsible? How about a job or a calling? Dictionary.com defines responsible as "answerable or accountable, as for something within one's power, control, or management". So, then it is not the money or type of job that makes you responsible, but rather whether or not you actually pay your bills. Responsibility lies on what you do with what you have. It doesn't matter what type of job you may or may not have. I post this because I am getting the feeling that a few of you believe that I am not being a responsible person by getting married at this point of my life. Well, I have got news for you. When the spirit speaks to me I listen. Through it all I have been doing the best that I can with what I have got. Life isn't always a stroll up a 5.6, sometimes it gives you a v12 crux. It is what you do when you get to the v12 that makes you who you are. Work it, go home, or cheat your way around. I believe a person can be responsible in doing what he or she wants to do, so long as they meet their obligations and fulfill their promises and covenants. So, I ask again....... What is responsibility?

It's comming!

Well, D-day is getting closer and closer. The dress is done, flowers are getting made, food is being prepared, honeymoon is all planned, temple things are all in order and the reception is in the hands of a very capable lady. It seems all is done and taken care of. Oh, wait a minute, we need a place to live?! Yeah, seems we need to find ourselves a place to call home, since the tent got a big fat veto. So, that is our current stressor. Luckily everything else is taken care of. The hard part is finding a place that the lady can live with and that we together can afford. Oh the joy........
Other than all of that, work on the temple is going steadily forward. We tile workers should have all of the major things done with by the end of the month. Hopefully the county will allow us to resume on our house soon. Classes are going well. My photography class has me all excited! I have found much joy in taking artistic photos and getting to develop them how I want to in the darkroom. It truly is an art form.

Wedding Plans and everything else

Hey just wanted to tell you all what's happening around here. Corey is taking classes at CSI and LOVING them. We already knew that he loved yoga from last semester and we are taking it together this semester (except that we have yet to acctually attend class, we missed the first day because of grandpa's funeral and they didn't have class this week). He is also taking a Black & White photography class that is more about the art of photography and how do develope real film and not the digital stuff. He is so excited about that class and I am just jealous. I'm dying to take it sometime.
Wedding plans are going well. My mom and I went to Salt Lake and went through every wedding dress shop there ever was to visit, and of course, found the perfect dress at the very last place. After 2 days of shopping and one very defeated day I was very happy to find it. We have finally sent the announcements to the presses and they should be going out...(cross your fingers)... this weekend. I think that we are on the down hill slope. Wah Hoo!!!

Update.

Just for an update on what is going on in our lives. I still work at the Twin Falls Temple. Currently doing the tile around the font. You all will have to come to the open house and check out my work, I'm pretty proud of it. Jentri is working on finding herself a job. We together are plugging along with wedding plans. So far, if we haven't posted it yet, the wedding date is Febuary 23rd in the Salt Lake Temple where I proposed. Our reception will be March 1st in Twin Falls at 6:30ish. The wedding plans have been put on hold for a few days, my grandfather passed away last wednesday morning. We all have been expecting it, he was getting old. I have come to find that you never appreciate what you have until it is gone. I find myself digging deeper to appreciate the small things in life. The little things that most people over look day to day. I am very grateful for all that God has blessed me with, for he has blessed me with a great and many wonderful things. Thank you to all of you who read this, for you are my friends, and I love all of you.
